this is the best. there really needs to be a genre of games that dont tell you how to do stuff, so you can figure it out on your own

You should try Strawberry Cubes. The whole premise of the game is what you just described.

what is this about?

Lots of really cool ideas here! So far I've just played the "traditional" route (ie: not using the secret code you provide). But so far I can see that your not just borrowing from Petscop but building new stuff on top of it. I like the fact that you can't hold things through doors but you can cleverly "cheat" that mechanic by taking advantage of how long doors stay open. The melody mechanic is really neat. I especially like how "O+K" was how you continued.

I almost think it would be better if you didn't use Petscop assets. I think that this game could have stood up on its own as just a "petscop inspired" game rather than being so directly tied to it. I also think that providing the hint that "[Laura] is the in-universe developer and narrator of the game. " in the description is a bit of spoiler, I think I'd rather discover that in game rather than read that in the description.

Thanks for the feedback! The first time I released this I held back as much information as I could and stayed cryptic about everything and it didn't go so well. This time I might have given more input than required. I should look out for the middle ground somewhere.

This was very distinctly meant to be a Petscop fangame, so making it completely independend from it would have kinda missed the point. At the same time it was a test for me to see what I can do in this kinda genre. I made Petsong back in winter 2019 and I'm currently working on a pen&paper tabletop game set in a cursed videogame universe. So I'm still dabbling around in the area and seeing what works for me.
